I am sure many of you know me already as and my family and I have attended several Conventions and visited lots of clubs Australia wide. I have been a member of several clubs in Queensland for many years. I have also been fortunate enough to visit several other countries various impressive facilities along the way. If only Australia was like Europe, the US or New Zealand.  I enjoy promoting our unique lifestyle in periodical magazines and have submitted and had published dozens of stories.

I remember having naturist thoughts very early in my life as a child. Perhaps some of us we are born naturists? (No pun intended). We live on acreage and luckily most of our neighbours are naturists or naturist friendly. My wife introduced me to beach nudism in the early seventies. Later we discovered social naturism and have been members of great club for a decade.  We have had the best times and made great friends enjoying this fabulous lifestyle.

I own and run a small business with 23 years experience in customer contact and management skills. I am a competent toastmaster. I have also had 21 years experience on management committees in several incorporated community associations.

I think that Australia, and Queensland especially, is way behind most of the civilized world when it comes to basic freedom, and it is getting worse. There are many factors influencing this return to dangerous conservative times.  I think American media may be a contributing factor plus living in busy uncertain times and an emerging multicultural society.

A lot of work has to be done and we all need to work together cooperatively if we are to survive.

I haven't been a nudist as long as some, but I can say that I'm definitely 100% for the lifestyle.

I became a nudist in 1997 and over the years have seen people of many different shapes and sizes. I've also seen people with physical disabilities, shaved, unshaved, tattooed and with body piercing.

I have seen more males who are nudists than females. I would like to encourage more females to join social nudism rather than stay at home behind closed doors. Being a social nudist helps with self esteem, relaxation and builds self confidence. The saying "don't judge a book by it's cover" comes to mind. I would like to take that a step further and say that if you have had one bad experience, don't judge all people by this. Don't stop going to a club or beach because of it as you are the one missing out on the wonderful lifestyle.

I hope, during my time as VP, that I can achieve a broader understanding of the lifestyle and encourage others to become nudists.

I will endeavour to try and do my best for all Aussie Nudists.

My experience in the nudist movement is firstly that nudism is my lifestyle.

It is my passion that we are allowed to be nudists in our land and by supporting the movement I feel I am helping advocate nudism.   I discovered social nudism in New Zealand when my children were in their middle childhood and from then on I have been a big advocate of family nudism.

I’ve been a regular contributor to naturist magazines over the years because I want to let people know what’s going on out there in our world.

I became heavily involved in club committees in NZ, to the extent where I was a co-founder of a new club and later on ran my own Nudist Homestay until I moved to Australia.

I have noticed that Australia is well behind other countries in the world with the development and acceptance of nudism.  It is disappointing to see the lack of support within the ANF or between ANF and affiliates.   

If my work on the ANF can help keep nudism alive in Australia then I know I have at least contributed.

Maureen McQueen

"I worked in various areas of Federal government during my working life. The last twenty years I sent as a Senior Customs Inspector with Australian Customs Service. Having been a nudist all my life, my wife (Maureen) and I joined the local ACT Nudist Club after hearing an article on the local radio station. On joining the club, we became involved with activities, working bees and later, joined the committee as a member, Vice President and then President. The culmination of my time with the club was to be the convener for the 38th ANF Convention.

On retirement, Maureen and I moved to the mid North Coast of NSW to establish Sylvan Glade naturist Bed and Breakfast. We have been well accepted both in the nudist movement and with the local tourism industry.

I have held the position of Vice President and President of the Federation and now have stepped down to take on the duties of Treasurer. I aim to ensure the Federation goes from strength to strength by being forward thinking, administratively strong and financially sound. We, the Executive, have successfully sought and been successful in getting support from affiliates to employ an administrative officer. This person will take on the day to day administration of the Federation whilst leaving Executive members the opportunity to pursue more policy direction for enhance future of the Federation."

Lindsay Parkyns

I guess I’m just naturally a nudist.  I’ve always been happy in my skin, I’m lucky I have no memory of ever feeling that my body was something that I should have to hide away with shame.

I believe that clothes should be for keeping warm or keeping extreme sun off my pale skin.

A couple of years ago my partner and I became involved in the organized nudist movement by joining a Nudist Club.  We were astounded by the number of members in the club who were “closet nudists”.  They appeared to enjoy the freedom of going nude but were afraid to let even their closest relatives, friends or neighbours know their terrible secret and so continued to hide away behind locked gates.

Until we, the true nudists or naturists come “out of the closet” and let everyone know that we are not ashamed of what we do, we are always going to be “second class” citizens and excluded from mainstream venues.

I have become involved in the ANF in the hope that I can play a small part in bringing us that one step closer to being accepted for our beliefs.

Once this happens it leaves the way clear for access to beaches, parks and other venues where anyone can choose to “get naked” in public and no one will be offended.
