In February 1986 the inaugural Alexandria Beach Carnival was held. It was a big success with some 400 - 500 naturists turning up to participate in a wide range of family orientated fun events. Indeed it was so successful the organisers decided to make it an annual event.

The years slipped by and the naturists kept coming. It is hard to believe but on Sunday March 14th, 2010 it will be the 25th Alexandria Beach Carnival. Don't miss this great occasion.

Everyone Welcome

Alexandria Bay is a public beach in the Noosa National Park so there is no entrance fee and everyone is welcome to come along on the day. To help cover the cost of the lifesavers, insurance and other expenses we will take a bucket around during the lunch break for donations.

Whilst being nude is not compulsory, you should be prepared to expect that almost everyone will be. Also, for various reasons, many people do not want to be photographed during this event, so please leave your cameras and videos at home and just come along and enjoy the day.

Lifesavers

Alexandria Bay is usually an unpatrolled beach and can be very dangerous so for your safety we have engaged the services of two lifesavers and support vehicle for the day. These people do a great job keeping our beaches safe from accidents and we especially ask that you abide by all their instructions and only swim between the flags. Parents are advised to supervise their children at all times, particularly whilst they are in the water or participating in events.

The Program

The whole program is made up of fun events rather than challenging sports, except perhaps the Beach Marathon which some people take fairly seriously. There is Shot Put (throwing bags filled with sand), Sack Races, Beach Sprints, Egg & Spoon Races, and a 4 Person Conga Line race which is quite hilarious.

After lunch the Egg Throwing, Tugs-o-war (male & female, and the Best Bum awards (also male & female) are always great crowd pleasers. Where applicable events are run in age and male & female groups, and there are many prizes and trophies to be won. So, whether you wish to participate or just be a spectator you are assured of a great day's entertainment.

Care for the Environment

Alexandria Bay is in a National Park so you must stick to the defined walking tracks. Also the dune area behind the beach has been fenced off to protect and regenerate the vegetation. You are not permitted in this area.

There are no facilities at the beach but toilets are available at Ti Tree Bay on the way back to the National Park Headquarters. You must bring all your needs for the day with you, such as food & drinks, sunscreen, shade etc, and please be sure to take all your rubbish away with you, so that we leave the beach clean and tidy.

How to Get There

There is no vehicle access so you must walk in and carry everything with you. Parking is very limited especially in Solway Drive, and be warned - do not park illegally as you will certainly be fined. Park Edge Road should be all right or the Park Headquarters car park if you get there very early. The adjacent map may be helpful. Click on it for an enlarged, printable version. We strongly recommend you avoid the McAnally Drive, Whale Drive & Dolphin Bay Drive areas. These are narrow residential streets with no legal parking or access to the national park, and you will almost certainly be fined for being there.

We look forward to seeing you on the beach!
